Wedding photojournalism is the visual narration of your wedding. Pictures are unposed and authentic, moments are undirected. Our approach is to stand back, watch and anticipate. Photojournalism is not just a "style" of photography we are aiming to create – it is our roots. We both began our careers as photojournalists in the early 2000’s, and continue shooting for news organizations today. We draw on our long experience telling stories to deliver our clients a product that can be best described as artistic journalism.
Should I give you a shot list?
We will send you sample galleries of full weddings so you can see a real finished product. You will see that we cover pretty much everything from details to dancing. These sample galleries will be a good indicator if there is a need to make a special request. For example, we always like to get a head’s up if there is a planned “surprise” happening sometime during the day, and please DO submit a list of desired family portraits – but otherwise, you do not need to give us a shot list.
What is the typical investment that couples make with you for wedding photography?
Couples typically invest anywhere from $4,000 to $6,000 on wedding coverage. Quotes may vary depending on season, day of the week, number of photographers, duration, and a la carte add-ons. Elopements and shorter weekday events start at a lower price point. Please contact us for customized pricing.

Will you give us direction during our portrait session?
Absolutely. We find that this is the portion of the day couples are most apprehensive about – posing for a photo can be nerve wracking, but we are here to help! We tell couples that when we ask you pose, we are actually watching for the split seconds before and after that pose. There is a fleeting ease and relaxation in the moments between poses. We’ll also ask you to focus on each other. This might be the first time all day when you two have had a quiet moment to take a breath and be a married couple, so we like to use that sense of “ahhh…” to get the most out of your portraits.
Do you also shoot posed photos with family members?
We do. And we will help things go as swiftly and smoothly as possible. Folks are always eager to get to cocktail hour and chat with friends, so the shorter we can make family portrait time, the better! A few things that help A LOT … 1. Keep your list of groups short, and make sure folks know they are expected to be in a posed photo. 2. Appoint a “wrangler”. This is someone who can put names to faces. Your wrangler helps you stay stress-free, and helps us stay focused on making everyone look their best. 3. Definitely consider using our like-no-other Photo Booth. What the heck is that? Click here.
What cameras do you use? Do you shoot in color or black and white?
We use Canon 5D Mark III camera bodies, and a variety of zoom and prime lenses. We update equipment annually. All images are captured in color, and we shoot in RAW format. During the editing process, we duplicate all images and convert them to black and white so you’ll receive all edited photos in both color and black and white.

Do you have any problem with guests taking their own pictures?
We don't have a problem with guests taking photos throughout the day. Your closest people are thrilled for you, and that is to be expected! But we would hate for that to interfere with us getting the very best shot. You are hiring professionals to document one of the biggest days in your life, and your guests will be able to see and download the images we shoot (free of charge) once the wedding is done. We have noticed a recent trend in which couples ask guests to shut off phones during the ceremony for a “tech free” experience. Even though smartphones are a part of the world we live in, we have observed that when they are put away away, human interaction tends to flourish.
Will you travel anywhere in the world? Do you charge travel fees?
Yes! It’s a privilege to get outside of our usual coverage area. As for travel fees, we like to keep these costs low. We do not charge travel fees for weddings on the East Coast from Maine to Virginia.
How long will it take to see my pictures?
About 4-6 weeks depending on the season. If that feels like a long time, we do like to send you a sneak peek of about 25 images within 10 days of your wedding.

My other vendors want pictures too. Is this something you handle?
Yes. We love to share images on Facebook and Instagram, and we welcome fellow vendors to do the same. We will create a special vendor gallery intended for your vendors’ social media use. We ask that vendors contact us for any marketing or branding usage beyond traditional social media posting.
Will you submit my wedding to a magazine or blog?
We often submit “real weddings” to industry publications as a way to showcase fresh ideas and promote our work – it’s how we stay connected to other professionals and attract new clients. If you have questions or concerns about being published, please make sure you talk to us about it early in the process. On the flip side, if you’d like to share your photos with a media outlet, please let us know!
